 Dr. Anthony Lembo is the director of the Motility Center in the gastroenterology department of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston and clinical instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Lembo’s research has spanned many aspects of irritable bowel syndrome, including issues of hypersensitivity, symptom analysis, pain perception, pain research, and neurotransmitter function as it relates to IBS. He has also researched the topics of hepatitis, colonic function, dietary studies, and other digestive issues. Dr. Lembo has authored several original research articles and served on editorial and review boards for several publications, including The American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology, Digestive Diseases and Sciences, American Journal of Family Practice and Current Opinion in Gastroenterology.
Dr. Lembo completed both his residency and fellowship programs at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center. He is licensed in the states of California and Massachusetts, and board certified in the fields of Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Lembo received his bachelor’s of science degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.
