 Dr. John Johanson is a gastroenterologist in private practice at Rockford Gastroenterology Associates Ltd. in Rockford, Illinois and serves as a clinical associate professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, Illinois. His research efforts have focused on treatments for irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, fecal incontinence and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Dr. Johanson is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Since 1993, he has played an active role in the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), where he served as Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on Outcomes Research. He currently is a member of the Standards of Practice and the Scientific Program Committees.
Dr. Johanson also serves as editor for Evidence-Based Gastroenterology and an associate editor of Clinical Perspectives in Gastroenterology. He has also authored and co-authored more than 50 research articles and abstracts in top gastroenterology publications including American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Johanson earned his bachelor's in science degree in biology from Wheaton College, his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and his master's of science degree in epidemiology and biostatistics from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
